Who are we?

The Heart of Pennsylvania Women’s Barbershop Chorus isn’t just about singing; it’s a weekly sanity break where diverse women find joy, support, and lasting friendships through the power of a cappella. We’re a welcoming, energetic, and forward-thinking community, dedicated to mastering the barbershop style while exploring how our voices and performances can truly move people. More than just harmony, we offer a vibrant, supportive space where caring women lift each other up in the service of making something beautiful, together.

Meet our Leadership Team

Our chorus is run by a collaborative team that is elected yearly. We all help lead and plan rehearsals, but support the chorus in unique ways using our strengths as well.
Emily Hauer

Emily Hauer

Leadership team & President, Gig Management

As president, Emily is our fearless leader. She joined the group in 2022 and now loves to recruit others to give barbershop a try.

Dee Casteel

Leadership Team & Director

Dee was the director of the chorus for over 15 years, but is now enjoying having the work distributed amongst the team. She brings her years off experience to the table in helping us select, learn and perform music in the barbershop style! She loves teaching others new songs and challenging us all to get out of our comfort zones.

Moria Chambers

Moria Chambers

Leadership Team & Secretary, New member onboarding and musical development

Moria has been a member of the chorus since 2018 and is passionate about helping new members adjust to barbershop singing (its new for almost everyone who joins!) and also helping current members continue to develop their musical skills.

Sarah Lower

Sarah Lower

Sarah joined the chorus in 2023 and loves to think about the most playful and engaging ways to perform our pieces! She is also a wizard at keeping us organized and she is the reason we (often) look like we know what we're doing.
